Mike Hogan ’67
Mike Hogan was a four-year varsity letter winner and starter
in football while at Alter
High School. He was All Ohio and participated in the Ohio
High School North-South
All Star Game in Canton, Ohio his senior year. Mike also
earned a varsity letter in
basketball in 1967. He accepted a full scholarship to Michigan
State
University and was a varsity starter in football for three
years. Mike was
co-captain of the team in 1970 and led the team in tackles
that year. He
participated in the Canadian/American North-South All Star
Game in 1971
and was drafted by the Baltimore Colts that same year. Mike
played semipro
football from 1971 to 1979 in Michigan and taught and coached
at St.
Clement High School and Divine Child High School during that
time. For
24 years he has worked in transportation management and is
currently the
Fleet Manager for Art Van Furniture in Michigan. |

Gary Trick ’69
Gary earned three varsity letters in basketball and four
in baseball while at Alter. In
basketball, Gary was the leading scorer for three years and
selected first team All
Greater Dayton League, first team All Area both junior and
senior years, second team
All Southwest Ohio, and honorable mention All State. In baseball,
he was
a team captain with a 23-9 record and made first team All
Area. Gary went
to Notre Dame where he played varsity baseball and freshmen
basketball.
After graduating, he taught at Alter from 1973 to 1978 and
was the assistant
varsity basketball coach for the 1978 state championship
team and the head
coach of the first baseball league championship team. Gary
was the head
basketball coach at Hamilton Badin from 1979-1981. He earned
his MBA
from Xavier University in 1982 and is currently teaching
at Fairfield
Middle School. |

Tyra Carson Dean ’88
Tyra Carson Dean holds six Alter High School track records
(100m, 200m, 100m
hurdles, 300m hurdles, 4x400m relay, 4x200m relay). She was
a four time district
champion, a two time regional champion and in 1998 the 200
meter hurdle state
champion. Tyra accepted a full scholarship to Michigan State
University
where she was a three year letter winner in track. At MSU
she was a three
time Big Ten All American, She was also a member of the 1989
Junior Pan
American team and placed third in the 400m hurdles at the
Pan American
Games. Tyra is currently working in the criminal justice
system in Kansas
City, Mo as the assistant facility manager at a residential
treatment center. |

Marc Molinsky ’91
Marc Molinsky earned four varsity letters in golf and two
in basketball while at Alter.
He was a state qualifier in golf twice finishing 11th in
1990. He was team MVP all
four years he played and received a golf scholarship offer
from Notre Dame. Marc
was also Alter’s basketball MVP in 1991. He averaged
23 points per game
that season and was Southwest Ohio Player of the Year as
well as first team
All State. Marc was offered basketball scholarships by a
number of schools
including UCLA and Stanford and accepted a scholarship to
Boston
College. Marc was a four year letterman at Boston College.
He was a Big
East Academic All Star for three years and played in every
game (124) of
his Boston College career. Marc obtained his CPA while working
for Ernst
& Young. He is currently president of Designer Advantage,
Inc. and vicepresident
of Model Golf LLC. |

Andy Meyer ’92
Andy Meyer is the all time leading scorer in Alter basketball
history with 1477 points
in his four-year varsity career. He is the only player to
earn four varsity letters in
basketball and is also the leading career rebounder. Andy
was All-Ohio first team in
1992 and was chosen to play in the McDonald’s Capital
Classic. He
accepted a scholarship to play at the University of Dayton.
At Dayton,
Andy is 38th on the all time scoring list with 988 points.
A four-year
letterman, he won the Thomas Luppe Freshman Award in 1993
and was the
team MVP in 1995. Andy continued his basketball career playing
professionally in Europe for 5 years. In 1999 he was the
Irish National
Championship playoff MVP. Currently Andy is a loan account
executive
with Mayflower Mortgage in Dayton. |

Theresa Check 1975-1982
Theresa was the girls’ basketball
coach at Alter from 1975 to 1982. Her teams won
122 games and two district championships. The 1979-80 team
was 24-1, ranked third
in the state. Coach Check was also the first women’s
athletic director at Alter. She
was instrumental in starting the girls’ soccer program.
In 1982, she left Alter to be
head basketball coach at Western Illinois University. From
1985 to 2001, she was the
basketball coach at Central State University. Coach Check
has a career record of 380-
108 at CSU with 14 consecutive “20 win” seasons
and 13 consecutive trips to the
NAIA Division I National Basketball Tournament (longest streak
in NAIA history).
She is a member of the Central State Hall of Fame, the Cedarville
High School Wall
of Fame, and the NAIAWomen’s Basketball Hall of Fame.
Since 1996, she has been
the athletic director at Central State. |
